Shaner to Lead Business Services for Corsicana ISD
The Corsicana Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved Marti Shaner as
the new Assistant Superintendent of Business Services for CISD on Monday night. Shaner has been serving CISD for the past nine years, most recently she has been the Assistant
Superintendent of Learner Supports. She brings 38 years of public education experience to her
As the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Shaner’s new role includes the management of a $42 million public school budget.
“As a good educator, you never stop learning,” said Shaner. “I have had many experiences throughout my career in public education working at all levels within a school system. Each experience has prepared me for growth and leadership. This is a new challenge that I look forward to. I will bring a new dimension of fiscal responsibility including the communication necessary for understanding at all levels within the District.”
“Ms. Shaner is a wealth of knowledge. Her years as an educational leader has served the District well. Ms. Shaner will be able to effectively lead the business services with her multi- level knowledge of District business. She has been very instrumental in the entire budgeting process and her experience with federal grant management, including the allocation and reporting, is extremely beneficial,” said Dr. Diane Frost, Superintendent of CISD.
Shaner began her career with CISD in 2008. She was promoted to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, and in 2011, she was named the Assistant Superintendent of Learner Supports and Technology.
After graduating from Bowling Green University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree, Shaner began her academic career in Texas. She was a resource teacher, content mastery teacher and LIFE program coordinator for Bryan ISD schools from 1982 to 1991. Shaner also received her mid-management certification from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Shaner then began the first of two stints at the ESC Region VI located in Huntsville in 1991 as a transition and instructional specialist in math.
Shaner move to Shepherd ISD in 1994 where she served as an elementary principal, elementary coordinator, middle school principal, intermediate principal and a high school principal. She worked in Shepherd ISD from 1994 to 2004.
There will be some time for transition as Shaner assumes her new role. “I enjoy working at CISD, and I look forward to this opportunity,” said Shaner. “I appreciate the confidence that has been bestowed upon me.”
