Howell Named Principal of Collins Intermediate School
The Corsicana ISD Board approved Stephanie Howell as the new principal of Collins Intermediate School. Howell has spent the last 11 years at CISD, most recently she was principal at Carroll Elementary School.
Howell, a ‘94 graduate of Corsicana High School, is a Corsicana ISD success story. She began her career at Carroll as a teacher’s aide. Later, she was hired to be a teacher at Carroll where she taught second, third and fourth grade. In 2010, she was hired as the Assistant Principal (AP) at Collins Middle School, then moved to be an AP at Corsicana High School. In 2013, she was named Principal at of the Sam Houston Dual Language Campus, and the last two years she has served as the Principal at Carroll Elementary.
"Mrs. Howell has the perfect combination of elementary and secondary school experience that is needed as we transition students and staff to the Collins Intermediate Campus. Her leadership over Carroll Elementary’s bond projects and campus improvement initiatives have been significant. She is a proven leader who will undoubtedly bring a culture of success and achievement to the campus,” said Dr. Diane Frost, superintendent of CISD.
Howell has two kids in college, Makayla, at Sam Houston State University and, Nick, at Texas State Technical College in Waco. Howell has been married to Stephen for 12 years.
Collins Intermediate School was part of the 2014 Bond planning and election. With the opening of the newly constructed Corsicana Middle School for students in 7th and 8th grade, students in the 5th and 6th grade will transition to Collins Intermediate School, what is now Collins Middle School. The transition planning is in process to be complete by Fall 2017. Parent and student information sessions for 5th and 6th grades are scheduled for April 6, April 13 and April 20 from 6pm-7pm at the current Collins Middle School. The April 20 session will be focused on Sam Houston Dual Language program transition to the intermediate campus.
