Corsicana High School students are headed to State UIL Competition
Corsicana High School (CHS) students are advancing to the state University Interscholastic League (UIL) competition in One Act Play, and John Beck is advancing as an individual in Number Sense. The CHS Accounting team is the alternate team for the state competition.
The CHS One Act Play (OAP), under the direction of Gloria McLuckie and Azure McLuckie, will compete at the state competition this Thursday in Round Rock. The play, “A Scottish Tragedy,” had successful performances at the district, bi‐district, area and most recently regional competition in San Jacinto.
“I am very excited for our students to be represented at the state UIL competitions,” said Dr. Diane Frost, superintendent of Corsicana ISD. “There is a tremendous amount of work and dedication from the students, parents and sponsors to get to this level.”
Also, receiving recognition for OAP includes: Zaida Avila, Best Actress; Marcus Speed and Julio Briceno for All Star Cast; Helen Hibbs, Brittni Menard, Malika Muhammad for Honorable Mention All Star Cast; Mya Henderson for All Star Crew. Other students in OAP include: Erickson Sanchez, Coby Littleton, Corbin Hill, Cole Curlee Young, Alondra Hernandez, Alison Andrews, Olquidia Sanchez and Kayla Eastman
John Beck is headed to state as an individual in the Number Sense competition. He will compete April 21 at the University of Texas in Austin. Mathew Berry is his sponsor. Beck scored second place at the Regional competition solidifying his opportunity at the state meet.
John Beck, Mitch Melendez, Enrique Ramirez, and Matthew Guo of the CHS Accounting Team are sponsored by Meagan Vadasy. This team advanced successfully in District and Regional competitions and made the alternate team at the state level.
