• Usery Named Interim Principal at Bowie Elementary

    Hollye Usery The Board of Trustees approved Hollye Usery as the Interim Principal at Bowie Elementary. The appointment was made following the current Principal Amy Gibbs’ announcement to retire in December after 25 years of service in public education. Ms. Usery was recently serving as the Assistant Principal at Bowie Elementary.

    “Ms. Usery brings with her a love for Bowie Elementary and CISD as well as a background in elementary education. She knows the staff and students and will be able to continue the good work that is occurring on the campus,” said Superintendent of Corsicana ISD Dr. Diane Frost.

    Usery began her teaching career in 2003 at Flour Bluff ISD in Corpus Christi, Texas.  She taught elementary and middle school students before joining Corsicana ISD in 2008.  Her first five years at CISD, she taught at the Sam Houston Elementary Dual Language campus. She spent the next two years teaching English Language Arts to 7th and 8th grade students at Collins Middle School.  In 2015-2016, she left CISD to be an Assistant Principal at Fairfield Elementary for one year, then was hired as the Assistant Principal at Bowie Elementary.

    “We will miss Ms. Gibbs and will forever appreciate her positive impact and leadership,” said Frost. “I am confident that Ms. Usery will successfully continue to lead the campus through this transition.”

    Usery holds a Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Lamar University. She is married to Michael Usery and they have three children, Brody, Jack, and Hannah.
