• CISD Board Approves New Campus Leadership

    New Assistant Principals The Corsicana ISD Board of Trustees approved Meagan Pruett at Corsicana Middle School, Molly Corrington at Collins Intermediate, Verlena Bodie at Bowie Elementary, Ariana Hernandez at Carroll Elementary, and Tiffany Farmer at Navarro Elementary as assistant principals.

    “This group of assistant principals has such strong instructional leadership qualities,” said CISD Superintendent Dr. Diane Frost. “I am excited to have this caliber of talent working alongside of our campus principals and teachers.”

    Meagan Pruett has been with Corsicana ISD for the last five years, and is appointed as an assistant principal at Corsicana Middle School. She started at CISD in 2013 as a 7th grade history teacher and later became the girls’ athletic coordinator at the middle school. She has been interning as an assistant principal for the last year. Pruett has her associate degree from

    Ranger College, her bachelor’s degree from Tarleton University and Master in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. Pruett is married to Kasey who is a football coach and teacher at Corsicana High School. They have two children, Jaxon (4) and Maggie Mae (six days).

    Molly Corrington will be transitioning as the Assistant Principal at Collins Intermediate. She has been with CISD for 11 years. Most recently, she has served as the Assistant Principal at Carroll Elementary. She started at Carroll in 2007 as an elementary teacher and served in various instructional leadership capacities. Corrington received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University Commerce in 2007.  In 2013, she received her Master in Education degree from UT Arlington, and her Principal Certification from Lamar University in 2017.  Molly is married to Matt.  She has two children, Ambree Christy of Dallas, and Cody Taft of Denver, Colorado. 

    Verlena Bodie is the newly appointed Assistant Principal at Bowie Elementary. She is joining the district from Ennis ISD where she has been a fourth grade gifted and talented teacher since 1999.  Bodie received her bachelor’s degree from Wylie College in 1999.  She has her master’s degree from Lamar University. Bodie is married to McCain. They have two boys McKavin (18) and MaKaden (13).

    Ariana Hernandez has been named as the Assistant Principal at Carroll Elementary. She has been serving as an instructional coach/interventionist at Carroll. Her education career began as a Bilingual Pre‐K teacher at Ascher Silberstein Elementary in Dallas where she also taught bilingual 4th grade math and science. In 2012, she joined the Sam Houston Elementary Dual Language campus and taught Kindergarten for two years, before she transitioned to Oak Cliff Elementary. Hernandez has her bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. She earned her Master of Education degree from Tarleton State in 2013, and she is enrolled in the doctoral program at Tarleton. She recently received the CISD “Tiger Spirit Award.” She and her husband, Elmer Avellaneda, who is an Executive Director of Special Programs at CISD have a daughter, Carolina (3).

    Tiffany Farmer will join Navarro Elementary as the Assistant Principal. Farmer has been teaching 5th grade math at CISD for the last six years. Her exceptional instruction has earned her the Carroll Elementary Rising Star award in 2015, and the CISD Mark Culwell Award for

    Outstanding Elementary Teacher in 2017. Farmer has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UT Arlington.  She and her husband, Brian, reside in Corsicana.
