    Nomination Window

          January 6, 2020 - January 31, 2020    

  • Definition of Giftedness by the Texas Education Agency:

    A gifted/talented student is a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who

    • exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
    • possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
    • excels in a specific academic field. (Texas Education Code §29.121)


    Assessment Criteria 

    Kindergarten and Second Grade

    • NNAT3 – (Pre-screener) Online computer assessment that does not involve reading but uses lines and shapes in patterns and comparisons.
    • 3 creative activities that will be show uniqueness and gifted characteristics

    If the student is referred by the GT screening committee after the first two screening assessments, he/she will take:

    • The K-3 SAGES- 3 test Reading/social studies
    • The K-3 SAGES-3 test Math/science
    • The K-3 SAGES-3 test Verbal Reasoning
    • The K-SAGES-3 test Non-Verbal Reasoning.

    The K-3 SAGES-3 test is a combined aptitude and achievement test for students Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

    First and Third Grade

    All nominated 1st and 3rd grade students will complete:

    • NNAT3- Online computer assessment that does not involve reading but uses lines and shapes in patterns and comparisons.
