•  Xylophones, Glockenspiels and Metallophones

Students in all grades have the exciting opportunity to play mallet instruments thanks to a generous grant from the Corsicana Education Foundation.  Xylophones, glockenspiels, and metallophones are fun to play (and listen to!) and allow students to learn important music concepts in an interactive and enjoyable way.  Every grade level learns how to play each instrument while doing fun group activities or playing individually.  Additionally, students have the chance to create their own sound combinations and share them with the class.

  • Dancing figures Folk Dancing

Every student at Bowie learns Folk Dancing when they come to Fine Arts class during select weeks.  We have a great time listening to music, singing songs, and learning traditional dances adapted from England, Russia, and the New England states.  This is an excellent way to experience and internalize important music concepts such as moving to the beat, listening to changes in music, and working together as a group.  Best of all, it keeps us active and is a lot of fun!
