I grew up listening to music and playing the piano, so music has always been an important part of my life.  I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Tyler, then went on to earn a Master of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy from Texas Christian University.  After teaching private piano lessons in the Fort Worth area, I got my Music EC-12 teaching certification and become an Elementary Music Teacher in East Texas.  Before long I moved halfway around the world to Kigali, Rwanda (east Africa).  For 2 years I lived there as a missionary teacher, teaching elementary music and middle school social studies at Kigali International Community School.  I loved it.  When I moved back home to Texas, I became the Fine Arts teacher at Bowie Elementary.  When I am not in the classroom, you may find me out camping, hiking, or backpacking, or curled up outside with a great book and a good cup of coffee.
