CHS baseball standout Autrey headed to home run derby

Corsicana High School baseball standout Easton Autrey is set to take his talents to the big stage as he gears up to compete in the 17th World Power Showcase Amateur Home Run Derby Nov. 24-26 at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
Known for his impressive power at the plate, the junior hitter will join some of the best young sluggers from around the world to showcase his skills at the home of the Texas Rangers.
“I’m excited to meet new people and face some great competition,” Easton said. “I’m also looking forward to seeing how far I can hit a baseball at Globe Life Field.”
A top national power-hitting prospect and University of Texas commit, Easton is the son of CHS head baseball coach Heath Autrey. Growing up, Easton looked up to his older brother Hunter Autrey, now playing at Sam Houston State University, and cites him as a major influence.
“I grew up watching Hunter play and I love the friendly competition we have,” Easton said.
Easton also cherishes the experience of playing for his dad, with his favorite memory from last season being a grand slam he hit in Lindale, followed by a celebratory dogpile after his father’s 400th career win.
“I’m proud to see Easton’s hard work paying off,” Heath said. “He’s incredibly dedicated to getting stronger and staying fit. We’re thrilled he’s been selected for such a special event. We can’t wait to watch him compete and represent Corsicana and the state of Texas on this big stage.”
In preparation for the showcase, Easton spent the offseason working on his speed and agility. This summer, he will head to Ohio to play with the Midland Redskins, continuing to hone his skills in hopes of taking his game to the next level.

“Crecí viendo jugar a Hunter y me encanta la competencia amistosa que tenemos”, dijo Easton.
Easton también aprecia la experiencia de jugar para su padre, y su recuerdo favorito de la temporada pasada es un grand slam que pegó en Lindale, seguido de una celebración con un montón de pelotazos después de la victoria número 400 de la carrera de su padre.
