Iron Tigers set sights on regional dominance

Fifteen members of Corsicana High School's Iron Tigers boys' powerlifting team will compete Thursday at the regional meet in Arp, a remarkable achievement for first-year head coach Matthew Fonville's program.
"We set out to dominate this year and we did just that," Fonville said. "Having 15 boys qualify for regionals is huge."
The regional qualifiers are Noah Allen, Corbin Branch, Tanner Crumpton, Jhoel Dionet, Adryk Duran, Eli Fitzhugh, Erick Galicia, Alex Garcia, Andres Garcia, Emanol Gonzalez, Fidel Gonzalez, Kevin Ibarra, Cristian Martinez, Jeremiel Taylor and Geo Wafer.
Fonville attributes the team's success to their commitment and work ethic.
"They come in early and just get to work," he said. "They trust that our coaching staff puts them in the best situation possible and do everything in their power to accomplish the goal."
The Iron Tigers have adopted "Not Finished" as their motto for the regional competition.
"We are going into this meet to do what we have done all year, dominate," Fonville said. "It has been amazing to watch these boys grow. They have all made a commitment to make this team great and push themselves to get better every week."

Quince miembros del equipo de levantamiento de pesas masculino Iron Tigers de la Preparatoria Corsicana competirán el jueves en la competencia regional en Arp, un logro notable para el programa del entrenador principal en su primer año, Matthew Fonville.
"Nos propusimos dominar este año y lo hicimos", dijo Fonville. "Tener 15 chicos que califican para las regionales es enorme".

Fonville atribuye el éxito del equipo a su compromiso y ética de trabajo.
"Llegan temprano y se ponen a trabajar", dijo. "Confían en que nuestro personal de entrenamiento los pone en la mejor situación posible y hacen todo lo que está a su alcance para lograr el objetivo".
Los Iron Tigers han adoptado "No hemos terminado" como su lema para la competencia regional.
"Vamos a participar en esta competencia para hacer lo que hemos hecho todo el año, dominar", dijo Fonville. "Ha sido increíble ver a estos muchachos crecer. Todos se han comprometido a hacer que este equipo sea grandioso y se esfuerzan para mejorar cada semana".
