Corsicana ISD will Provide Every Student with an Electronic Device in 2020
The Corsicana Independent School District Board of Trustees approved an electronic device lease agreement that will maximize the District’s current technology inventory to provide every student with a device for learning.
“This has been our goal to become a one-to-one district [one device to each student],” said Superintendent Dr. Diane Frost.
Each year, CISD increases the inventory of computers for both students and teachers. “Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, we quickly realized that electronic delivery of instruction would be imperative for our students,” said Frost.
Stephanie Howell, Executive Director of Technology and District Innovation, led the charge in the spring to distribute laptops and hotspots to students in need. Thanks to a generous donor, the District was able to purchase an additional 1,085 devices to help provide students a connection to learning in order to complete the academic year.
The approved lease includes 1935 student laptops, 420 teacher laptops and 264 iPads for pre-kinder students. The annual lease payment will be $378,892.
Corsicana ISD will provide three options to parents/students to receive instruction this fall. One option is in-person on campus, and the other two are virtual online opportunities.
“Every student deserves access to technology. I am very proud and thankful that we can make this happen for our students and teachers,” said Frost.
