Homecoming is Oct. 7, but long before the football game and crowning of the queen, lots of fun is in store at Corsicana High School. Boy, what a week it is going to be!
There will be a bonfire Thursday, Oct. 6 on the practice fields near Corsicana Middle School. The night will start at 6 with yard games, snack and drinks, music, and vendors.
At the homecoming pep rally, someone is kissing a pig! Students can buy votes, and they will be casting them for five members of the school staff. The person who gets the most votes gets to pucker up in front of the whole school.
The week will commence with a dance after the football game.
But before all that, the daily themes during the week promise a lot of uniqueness and fun. Here is a quick glance, provided by StuCo Advisor Briana White, CHS teacher:
- Monday: Career Day – Students will dress as their future careers to manifest their goals and dreams;
- Tuesday: BBQ Dads vs. Soccer Moms – Students will dress in typical dad attire – cargo shorts, Hawaiian shirts/golf polos, tall white socks and sneakers. They will also dress as your typical soccer mom – workout clothes, tennis shoes, sun glasses, Yeti cup and fruit snacks in tow. “We hope they all have their own fun spin on this,” White said;
- Wednesday: Anything but a backpack day/$2 jeans day – Students will get creative and find a unique way to bring all of their school supplies without using a backpack. “We’ve heard some fun ideas so far – coolers, wheel barrows, power wheels! We’re excited to see what the kids come up with,” White said;
- Thursday: General Throwback Day – “In the past we have assigned a decade to each class, but this year we decided on a general throwback! So, students can dress from any time period they want – we think we will have a lot of students dress from the 70s to early 2000s,” White said;
- Friday: Spirit Day – Students will dress in school colors and spirit wear.

Homecoming es el 7 de Octubre, pero mucho antes del partido de fútbol y el coronamiento de la reina, hay mucha diversión reservada en Corsicana High School. ¡Vaya, qué semana va a ser!
Habrá una fogata el Jueves 6 de Octubre en los campos de práctica cerca de la Escuela Secundaria Corsicana. La noche comenzará a las 6 con juegos de patio, bocadillos y bebidas, música y vendedores.
¡En el homecoming de bienvenida, alguien está besando a un cerdo! Los estudiantes pueden comprar votos y los emitirán para cinco miembros del personal de la escuela. La persona que obtenga más votos tendrá que besar el cerdo frente a toda la escuela.
La semana comenzará con un baile después del partido de fútbol.
Pero antes de todo eso, los temas diarios durante la semana prometen mucha diversión. Aquí hay un vistazo rápido, proporcionado por la asesora de StuCo, Briana White, maestra de CHS:
- Lunes: Día de la carrera: los estudiantes se vestirán como sus futuras carreras para manifestar sus metas y sueños;
- Martes: BBQ Dads vs. Soccer Moms: los estudiantes se vestirán con el atuendo típico de papá: pantalones cortos cargo, camisas hawaianas/polos de golf, calcetines blancos altos y zapatillas deportivas. También se vestirán como las típicas mamás futbolistas: ropa deportiva, tenis, anteojos para el sol, copa Yeti y bocadillos de frutas. “Esperamos que todos tengan su propio giro divertido en esto”, dijo White;
- Miércoles: cualquier cosa menos un día de mochila/día de jeans de $2: los estudiantes se volverán creativos y encontrarán una manera única de traer todos sus útiles escolares sin usar una mochila. “Hasta ahora hemos escuchado algunas ideas divertidas: ¡neveras, carretillas, ruedas eléctricas! Estamos emocionados de ver qué se les ocurre a los niños”, dijo White;
- Jueves: Día de retroceso general: “En el pasado, asignamos una década a cada clase, ¡pero este año decidimos un retroceso general! Por lo tanto, los estudiantes pueden vestirse de cualquier período que deseen; creemos que muchos estudiantes se vestirán desde los años 70 hasta principios de los 2000”, dijo White;
- Viernes: Día de espíritu: los estudiantes se vestirán con los colores de la escuela y ropa de espíritu.
