You can catch Raistlin Janeway next week at Corsicana High School, where he will star as SpongeBob SquarePants in the latest Tiger Theatre Company Production. It might be something you can tell your friends and family about later in life.
The Corsicana senior has been accepted to The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, an acting school that has produced the likes of Matthew Fox (Party of Five, Lost), Jacob Batalon (Spiderman, Reginald the Vampire), and Ryan Dorsey (Yellowstone, Ray Donovan).
“I want to be an actor, so badly,” said Janeway, who auditioned Dec. 17 and learned of his acceptance before winter break started Dec. 22.
“I thought it would be fun to audition, and if accepted, I might just go ahead and go there. I am not 100% sure,” said Janeway, who admitted he may go to a traditional college first, and leave the conservatory door open for later.

The Conservatory offers industry-focused associate degrees in film and television performance, musical theatre, and new media (all-encompassing courses from writing to editing, and everything in between).
“As someone who was raised in the Corsicana school system, I know that it's hard to imagine a world outside of our small town,” said Alyssa Bain, Tiger Theatre Company Director. “For a student to be accepted into not just any New York school, but a New York acting school, this is such a dream.”
Bain is unaware of any other CHS alumnus attending The New York Conservatory.
“(Raistlin) is very dedicated, hardworking, and super talented,” Bain added. “I have never met a student who is willing to go as far as he is to play a character.
“Wherever he decides to go, they are extremely lucky to have him and he will be severely missed here”

El Conservatorio ofrece títulos asociados enfocados en la industria en interpretación de cine y televisión, teatro musical y nuevos medios (cursos que abarcan todo, desde escritura hasta edición, y todo lo demás).
“Como alguien que se crió en el sistema escolar de Corsicana, sé que es difícil imaginar un mundo fuera de nuestro pequeño pueblo”, dijo Alyssa Bain, Directora de la Compañía de Teatro Tigre. “Que un estudiante sea aceptado no solo en cualquier escuela de Nueva York, sino en una escuela de actuación de Nueva York, este es un gran sueño”.
Bain no tiene conocimiento de ningún otro alumno de CHS que asista al Conservatorio de Nueva York.
“(Raistlin) es muy dedicado, trabajador y súper talentoso”, agregó Bain. “Nunca he conocido a un estudiante que esté dispuesto a llegar tan lejos para interpretar un personaje.
“Dondequiera que decida ir, tienen mucha suerte de tenerlo y lo extrañaremos mucho aquí”
