Almost 50 years after graduating from Corsicana High School, the Class of 1973 delivered one more lasting memory. A mosaic art piece created by a Nashville artist now hangs in the library, a gift from that class. It is visible when walking toward the Commons in the hallway that also boasts the original ceramic Tiger mosaic.
Seven members of the Class of ‘73 were in attendance at the unveiling event Thursday evening at CHS. They shared stories and memories from their days at CHS before the official lowering of the veil, then caught up some more over a dinner catered by Old Mexican Inn.
In 1971, CHS – predominately white, and G.W. Jackson High School, longtime home to black students in Corsicana, integrated and made Corsicana a one high school town. The Class of ‘73 became the third graduating class.
Members present at the event were Larry Deeds, Danny Elliott, Larry Glass, Robert Harper, Ronald Jones, Bill McNutt, and Cathy (Jones) Moore.
The blue mosaic is the end result of Nashville artist Laurie Davis’ work. Its permanent home was cemented Thursday evening as Glass and Moore tugged at opposite corners, dropping the drapes on the gift to future CHS students and staff.

Casi 50 años después de graduarse de la Preparatoria Corsicana, la Clase de 1973 nos ha dejado un recuerdo más duradero. Una pieza de arte mosaico creado por un artista de Nashville ahora cuelga en la biblioteca, un regalo de esa clase. Es visible al caminar hacia los espacios de la cafetería en el pasillo que también cuenta con el mosaico de cerámica original del Tigre.
