A new children’s book penned by two Corsicana ISD staffers takes readers on a journey through the mind of 10-year-old girl who is fascinated to learn what is in her father’s briefcase.
The longtime couple, Corsicana High School paraprofessional Jahran Brown and Corsicana Middle School Discipline Secretary Jennifer Jones, recently released the book titled, “Dad, What’s in your Briefcase?” which can be purchased at Amazon.com.
The author of the book, Brown, said he was inspired by the questions and imagination of their daughter Mahogany, when she wondered what was in his briefcase as he headed to a meeting. It was important to Brown that all children can find characters who look like themselves represented in a positive light in library books.
“Not only that but seeing a father figure involved and present in the household is also essential,” he said.
Jones used the latest digital technology to illustrate the work with vivid, interactive graphics.
"As an illustrator, I utilized several different apps to create the characters and the background images to capture the essence of what Jahran pictured for his book,” Jones said. “The technology I used gave me a vast range of visual interpretations in the process of creating the artwork. It was a fun learning experience for me.”

Un nuevo libro para niños escrito por dos empleados de Corsicana ISD lleva a los lectores a un viaje a través de la mente de una niña de 10 años que está fascinada por saber lo qué hay en el maletín de su padre.
Jahran Brown, paraprofesional de la Preparatoria Corsicana, y Jennifer Jones, secretaria de disciplina de la Escuela Secundaria, publicaron recientemente el libro titulado “Dad, What’s in your Briefcase?”, que se puede comprar en Amazon.com.
